Dating from 1885 and based at the seat of the Ancient Clan Macdonnell, the Hotel is steeped in history and character. Originally an old Stagecoach Inn, the Hotel was built by Edward ‘The Bear’ Ellice , who purchased Glengarry estate from the Clan Macdonell’s and developed the local community and a number of local buildings in the area in the late 1800’s. Over the years the Hotel has been used as a Sporting and Shooting Lodge and Hotel and is now in the present ownership of Nigel and Suzy Robson, who are from the North East of England and Edinburgh. Having bought the Hotel in 2006 the couple have operated the Hotel for one full year before commencing refurbishments to several rooms and the entire ground floor of the Hotel which was completed February 2008. Plans are to complete the refurbishments to all rooms by 2010 and then to commence conversion of the Steadings and outbuildings to the side of the Hotel.
